Clinical Grade Optical Cell Sorting
The Gigasort technology uses a closed, sterile disposable cartridge each time a patient dose is processed. Patient samples are processed in a closed, sterile environment with no possibility of external or sample-to-sample contamination. The disposable cartridge supports cGMP standard operating procedures in clinical cell production.
Cells and sterile media are loaded into the sample port of the disposable cartridge within a biosafety hood. The cartridge is then transported to the Gigasort instrument for cell processing. The Gigasort Instrument does not need to be in the same room as your biosafety hood. Cells are processed once the cartridge and attached microfluidic chip are loaded onto the instrument under semi-automated machine control. The operator sets cell sorting requirements at the instrument console and the Gigasort instrument can run in an unattended mode. Cells are maintained at their optimal temperature and appropriate cell concentration during the cell sorting operation. At the completion of the sorting operation, the cartridge is removed from the instrument. The cells are extracted from the cartridge in a biosafety hood and used in their intended application. The cartridge is disposed of as medical waste at the end of the process. The cartridge contains everything needed for unattended cell sorting. Load the sample, sort your cells and dispose of the used cartridge.
The Gigasort cartridges are produced under cGMP, ISO and CE Mark manufacturing standards to ensure high reliability. You don’t need to modify your facility or your standards of operation to use the Gigasort instrument. Data is collected for each patient sample and every cell processed, unlike bulk separation methods. Since the cartridges are disposable, instrument cleaning is not required between patients and downtime is minimized. The Gigasort cartridges support clinical scale, multiple marker cell sorting protocols, including protocols developed using flow cytometry. You can sort cells with multiple, internal or threshold sensitive markers. You can produce clinical-grade cell populations not possible with other solid phase or flow-based cell sorting methods. You can readily transition your protocol from research to clinic and create new treatments using Gigasort cartridges and instrumentation.
