CytonomeST Awarded NCI Regulatory Assistance Grant
Boston, MA, February 22, 2011– CytonomeST, Inc., developer of the clinical grade Gigasort™ optical cell sorter, today announced that it has been competitively awarded acceptance into the National Cancer Institute's Regulator Assistance Program. The award was granted to provide regulatory support for the commercialization of CytonomeST’s ultra high throughput, high purity cell sorter for stem cell harvesting applications.
“There is considerable interest in using optical cell sorting for stem cell transplantation and other cell therapy applications. One of the major roadblocks in the successful application of transplant treatments is the difficulty in rapidly obtaining a sample of rare cells using clinical-grade optical sorting techniques.” said Dr. John Sharpe, Chief Exectuive Officer at CytonomeST.
“CytonomeST is developing a clinical-grade optical cell sorter that will meet the need for treating patients who require stem cell transplantation as part of their cancer therapy. We are extremely pleased that NCI recognizes the need for our technology in the treatment of cancer and is supporting our efforts to commercialize this technology,” added Dr. Sharpe.
