Who We Are

Cytonome was founded in 2009 on the premise of providing advanced solutions for cell purification needs.

By developing cutting edge technologies in cell purification and platform design, Cytonome provides novel solutions for cell therapy, research and industry.

With deep engineering expertise in the cytometry field and an expansive intellectual property portfolio, Cytonome aims to develop products that simplify existing workflows and enable leading edge advances and research.

Intellectual Property

Cytonome possesses an expansive portfolio of intellectual property, with 97 issued patents in a variety of technical areas, with particular focus on microfluidics. A further 59 patent applications are pending.

John C. Sharpe, PhD

Chief Operating Officer

Dr. John C. Sharpe is the Chief Operating Officer of Cytonome. He has formerly held both CEO and CTO roles with the company since its formation in 2009. John has over two decades of experience in developing and commercializing advanced cellular analysis and sorting technologies and other biosensing platforms that utilize advanced biophysics principles. He is recognized in the flow cytometry industry as a key member of the (Cytomation, now Beckman Coulter) development team for the MoFlo high speed cell sorter, and as the program and technical lead on the CyAn high-performance analyzer system. John has led multiple product development and commercial initiatives in a range of companies and has been responsible for due diligence studies in a number of corporate acquisitions. He has and continues to serve on the Boards of several science and technology companies. John holds a Ph.D. from The University of Waikato, New Zealand.

Vin Loccisano

General Manager and General Counsel

Vin has served in a variety of executive and legal leadership roles during his career.  He has founded and successfully exited multiple companies, managed multi-billion-dollar R&D programs and implemented strategic growth and acquisition initiatives from within Fortune 500 organizations.  Vin has successively lived and worked internationally in support of a diverse range of global technologies.

As an attorney, Vin has particular expertise in acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate governance and strategic intellectual property licensing in both private and publicly traded companies.  He has led more than $50 billion in related transactions during his career.  Vin also holds multiple Board and advisory roles within the greater Boston area.

Vin has degrees in engineering from Lehigh University, a Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University and an MBA from the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University.   He is additionally a registered patent attorney.

Michael Morkos

Christopher Canniff

Sr. Director of Finance

Chris Canniff has thirty years of experience in organizations ranging from start-up companies to Fortune 100 corporations in the pharmaceutical, medical device, financial services, and commercial real estate industries.

Prior to joining Cytonome, Chris worked as a consultant, serving as an interim Chief Financial Officer or Controller for companies in transition. Some of Chris’ recent engagements include: Business Unit Controller for an international pharmaceutical company, CFO for a start-up medical device company, and Vice President of Finance for a national digital media firm.

Prior to consulting, Chris was the CFO of a private equity-backed service firm established to implement leveraged consolidation of companies that specialize in fundraising services for national and international non-profit organizations. Chris also held senior finance positions at Fleet Bank, First Data, and The Boston Company.  Chris began his career at Deloitte and Touché.

Franklin Uyleman

Sr. Director of Quality & Regulatory

Franklin Uyleman joined Cytonome in 2013.  As the Director of Quality and Regulatory, he is responsible for the company’s quality, regulatory and safety strategy and execution both within and outside of the organization.  He has 20+ years of broad domestic and international quality, regulatory and safety experience with medical and commercial analytical products. Prior to Cytonome, Franklin was the Director of Quality and Regulatory Affairs with Dentsply IH, a subsidiary of Dentsply International.  Prior to this, he held various positions of increasing responsibility at Astra Tech, a subsidiary of Astra Zeneca; Mitsubishi Electronics Research Labs, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric; Vivid Technologies, a subsidiary of Hologic; and Thermedics Detection, a subsidiary of Thermo Electron. Franklin is also a US Army veteran.
