Mechanical Engineer

The Cytonome R&D team is seeking a highly talented and passionate individual to take part in the development of pioneering cell purification instruments. The Mechanical Engineer will be involved in feasibility assessment, concept implementation and verification & validation of designs. All development should be executed with cost, reliability and manufacturability in mind. The Mechanical Engineer must be well versed in the design of complex systems involving optics, fluid delivery, and high accuracy positioning assemblies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline; Master’s Degree a plus
  • 5+ years in a Mechanical Engineering & Product Development position (preferably in the Biotechnology or Medical Device industry)

Requirements:

  • Experience with electro-mechanical sub-assemblies/assemblies
  • Experience with fluidic controls
  • Experience conducting laboratory experiments, compiling data and generating reports
  • Demonstrate an in depth understanding of design tolerances and dimensioning
  • Understanding of fluidic & optical systems a plus
  • Experience with all phases of the product development lifecycle
  • Strong working knowledge of CAD/CAE tools (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in DFMA and transfer to manufacturing and sustaining engineering
  • Excellent analytical & problem solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with PLM, PDM required
  • Experience with C or other FEA tools a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast paced self-directed environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Participate in the planning, designing, development, documentation, and testing/debugging of complex mechanical systems
  • Design and develop tools, fixtures, assemblies to support manufacturing
  • Apply knowledge and understanding of materials and part manufacturing methodologies to ensure successful development of products
